Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Burbank, CA
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) covering a maternity leave for the remainder of the academic year. Work closely in a welcoming environment, collaborating with an engaged SPED team and friendly staff, all committed to positive student outcomes.
Begin your journey by shadowing and coordinating with the current SLP for 1-3 days during the week of November 16th, with November 16th and 17th as ideal training days. This hands-on transition ensures you’re well-equipped, familiar with student needs, and ready for a seamless start. Your contract continues after Thanksgiving Break, from November 30th through June 4th.
You’ll serve students from transitional kindergarten through 6th grade, with occasional involvement with 1-2 preschoolers receiving speech-only services. The assigned caseload is 48 students, and you’ll provide additional support to RTI groups, already incorporated into the weekly schedule. Most IEP meetings are scheduled for Thursdays during the school day, with a break from IEP duties in November and December; the first IEPs begin in January.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current SLP license and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Experience in a school setting, ideally with TK-6th students
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, organization, and adaptability
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech-language therapy for assigned students
- Conduct assessments and develop/implement IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and the SPED team
- Support RTI intervention groups
- Maintain documentation and participate in IEP meetings as scheduled
