School Based Adapted Art Therapist
We are seeking a passionate Adapted Art Therapist to join our K-12th school team on a contract basis. In this role, you will work closely with students with diverse learning needs, using art therapy techniques to enhance their social-emotional development, self-expression, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience working in educational settings and a strong understanding of how to adapt art therapy interventions to meet the unique needs of students across different grade levels.
Responsibilities:
- Provide adapted art therapy services to students with diverse learning needs in individual or group settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to integrate art therapy interventions into students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or support plans.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, challenges, and therapeutic goals.
- Develop and implement tailored art therapy sessions to address students' social-emotional needs, communication skills, and sensory processing.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of student progress and treatment plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of comprehensive support plans for students.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Art Therapy, Counseling, or a related field.
- Registered Art Therapist (ATR) credential preferred.
- Experience working with K-12th students in educational or clinical settings.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting art therapy techniques to meet the diverse needs of students.
