Job Description:
VocoVision is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team of virtual educators. In this role, you will work remotely to provide instruction, support, and resources to students with visual impairments, helping them to achieve their educational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' visual abilities and educational needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as braille literacy, adaptive technology, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social development
- Utilize teletherapy platforms to deliver instruction and communicate with students and stakeholders
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student performance and services provided
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI)
- Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired, either in-person or through teletherapy
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive materials for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing a caseload of students
- Reliable internet connection and computer equipment suitable for teletherapy
