An experienced Speech-Language Pathologist is needed to provide specialized therapy in a dynamic acute care setting. This full-time contract position is structured on a 5-day, 8-hour schedule (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM) with alternating weekend coverage every other Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The role supports adult and geriatric patients within a 180-bed hospital environment and offers a collaborative work atmosphere with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting bedside swallow evaluations and managing dysphagia care using international diet guidelines and modifying diet orders
  • Assessing and treating adult patients, focusing on stroke and infectious respiratory disease populations
  • Utilizing facility systems such as Meditech Expanse for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
  • Collaborating with interpretation services, respiratory teams, and unit secretaries to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Documenting assessments, concurrent therapy sessions, discharge planning, and treatment plans in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Participating in patient safety initiatives, including recognizing signs of abuse
  • Providing charge leadership experience and supporting a patient ratio of approximately 15 patients daily

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid MA State License, BLS certification, CCC-SLP certification, and MBSImP credential
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience, preferably in community or teaching hospital settings
  • Prior charge experience required
  • Comfortable working in adult outpatient and acute care settings
  • Ability to manage shifting patient needs and maintain thorough documentation
