School-Based Speech Language Pathologist | Valparaiso, Indiana
Step into an exciting contract opportunity this fall as a Speech-Language Pathologist supporting two vibrant elementary schools in the Valparaiso, IN area. This temporary role covers an FMLA leave, beginning August 10th and extending through the end of October. Designed for flexibility, this position welcomes both on-site and VOCO options for the right candidate.
You'll be stepping in during a critical time: an existing SLA is assigned to the caseload, allowing you to focus on delivering specialized speech and language services while managing a larger roster of approximately 117 students. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring ongoing support and communication for students across both River Forest's Evans Elementary and select students from Joan Martin in Hobart.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure and certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist—CCC required
- Proven experience in a school-based setting
- Comfortable managing a larger-than-average caseload with the assistance of an SLA
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Adaptable to both in-person and remote/teletherapy settings (VOCO open)
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality speech and language services to elementary-aged students
- Collaborate closely with support staff, faculty, and families to facilitate student progress
- Manage and document therapy activities, progress reports, and IEP meetings/contributions as needed
- Adjust strategies and delivery methods to best meet student needs, both on-site and virtually if required
