Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist in Schenectady, NY
This contract position requires a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to support a special private school located in Queensbury, NY, approximately 45 minutes north of Albany. The school serves students with severe cognitive disabilities and complex behavioral needs. Most students use alternative communication methods (AAC) and are non-verbal, with some requiring pediatric dysphagia support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services tailored to students with severe disabilities and complex communication needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing speech, language, and feeding/swallowing goals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators and healthcare professionals, to support student progress
- Supervise Clinical Fellows (CFs) as needed, offering guidance and mentorship
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with New York State education regulations
Qualifications:
- Current NYS Teaching Certificate as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped is required
- Open to Clinical Fellows with provided supervision
- Experience or interest in pediatric dysphagia preferred
- Ability to work effectively with students who use AAC devices and methods
