Virtual Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - NY
Providing speech-language pathology services in a school environment, this position focuses on delivering both direct therapy and consultation services to students with diverse communication needs. The role supports students who may require assistance with speech, language, fluency, voice, articulation, or related areas, ensuring compliance with New York State special education laws and regulations.
Key responsibilities include conducting screenings and administering formal and informal assessments to evaluate present levels of performance. This involves interpreting data, gathering case histories, and observing students within educational settings. Participation in Committees on Special Education (CSE) and Preschool Special Education (CPSE) is required to determine eligibility and contribute to the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Preschool Individualized Plans.
Therapy service delivery consists of direct, individual, or small group interventions. Interventions are tailored to meet students’ specific needs and can be provided in pull-out or push-in models, including classroom consultation. Incorporating augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and embedding strategies into daily routines supports students’ academic and social communication skills.
Collaboration extends to work with classroom teachers, special education professionals, parents, and related service providers to support accommodations and modifications. Documentation responsibilities include maintaining records, writing evaluation and progress reports, and ensuring all paperwork adheres to IDEA and state regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
- NY State license to practice as an SLP
- TSSLD certification preferred or required as per assignment
- Experience with school-based assessments and therapy
- Knowledge of NY special education regulations and IDEA compliance
- Strong collaboration and consultation skills
- Commitment to professional development and maintaining competency
This position offers a contract through 6/25/26. Full-time availability is preferred; part-time candidates will also be considered.
