This virtual position allows you to deliver high-quality speech and language therapy through teletherapy platforms, working with students from elementary through high school while maintaining a manageable schedule from your home setting.
The Role
This position typically involves 35-37 hours per week, managing a caseload of 45-55 students with diverse communication needs including articulation disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and pragmatic language difficulties. You'll provide both individual and group therapy sessions through secure video platforms, utilizing digital materials and interactive activities to engage students and target their specific goals. Your services support students in both general and special education settings, requiring collaboration with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations using standardized assessments and informal measures to determine eligibility and establish baseline performance levels
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable, functional goals addressing each student's unique communication needs and educational requirements
- Deliver engaging therapy sessions utilizing teletherapy best practices, digital resources, and evidence-based intervention strategies to maximize student progress
- Write detailed evaluation reports, progress notes, and IEP documentation meeting state and federal compliance requirements
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, providing assessment results, goal recommendations, and consultation to team members
- Consult with teachers regarding classroom accommodations, communication strategies, and ways to support students' speech and language development throughout the school day
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, home practice activities, and strategies to reinforce skills in natural environments
- Maintain accurate data collection and progress monitoring to inform treatment decisions and demonstrate student growth
Required Credentials
You must hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and maintain an active speech language pathology license in New Mexico. A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders is required, along with two years of experience providing services in school environments. Your clinical background should demonstrate competency across various communication disorders and age groups, with strong assessment and treatment planning skills.
Virtual Practice Requirements
Successful teletherapy delivery requires a professional home workspace with reliable high-speed internet, a quality webcam, and noise-canceling headset for clear audio. You should be comfortable using teletherapy platforms, digital therapy materials, electronic documentation systems, and video conferencing tools. Your setup must ensure student privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance during all sessions.
