Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Ruskin, FL
Step into a highly rewarding contract opportunity providing speech-language pathology support in a school-based setting. This role is perfect for an SLP with a passion for working with diverse students and a collaborative, student-centered approach. The assignment is on-site and spans from ASAP through late May, with a flexible part-time schedule totaling 17.5 hours weekly. Options exist to distribute these hours to fit your preference, such as three six-hour days, four four-hour days, or five shorter shifts, giving you valuable flexibility.
You’ll serve around 24 students ranging from 4th grade up to 22 years old at the center, all of whom are on ACCESS points. An additional 12 students are seen for consult services. You are not expected to be a case manager, allowing you to focus fully on direct therapy. Most classrooms are small, with just six or fewer students and supportive aides, and you’ll work in a standard-sized therapy room with ample resources. The school has a strong culture of support—led by a welcoming principal and on-site Behavior Specialist. You’ll also have mentorship available from another experienced SLP to help you get acclimated. If you’re interested in boosting your hours, possibilities exist to pair this role with another nearby school.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active FL SLP license (SLP-CCC or Clinical Fellow considered)
- Previous experience in school settings preferred
- Comfort working with moderate to severe needs or ACCESS point curricula
- Strong communication skills and a team-player mentality
- Compassionate and adaptable outlook towards diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct therapy services to students as assigned
- Consult with staff for additional students
- Collaborate on strategies with teachers, aides, and onsite specialists
