Speech Language Pathologist in Portsmouth, VA
Embark on a rewarding opportunity as a Speech-Language Pathologist supporting K-12 students across multiple school sites in the Portsmouth, VA area. This full-time, in-person itinerant position offers a diverse and engaging experience working with students of varying ages and needs. You’ll play an essential role in helping students achieve their communication goals, contributing directly to their academic and personal growth.
In this dynamic setting, you’ll travel between four school locations, collaborating with educators, families, and site-based teams. The upcoming academic year starts in August, with the possibility of orientation or training in July 2025 for a smooth transition. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language therapy services to K-12 students in school settings
- Complete assessments, develop and implement IEPs, and document progress
- Coordinate with teachers, support staff, and families for comprehensive care
- Travel between up to four school sites during school hours (approximately 7:30am-3:00pm)
- Supervise and collaborate with Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) and Clinical Fellows (CF) as assigned
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school events
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or under CFY supervision (SLP-CF welcome)
- Active Virginia SLP license or eligibility
- School-based experience or a strong desire to serve K-12 populations
- Experience supervising SLPAs a plus
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work in an itinerant model across multiple school sites
