Speech Therapist in Monroe, NC

This position is designed for a motivated, compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist who excels in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and is passionate about working with students with moderate to severe medical needs. This part-time role offers a flexible schedule—ideally two days (15 hours) per week, but candidates available for just one day or seeking additional hours are also encouraged to apply. The caseload ranges from 25-35 students, with a primary focus on support plans rather than direct therapy, allowing you to have a meaningful impact through consultative services.
Ideal Background:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Possession of current NC State License and NC Educator Certification (SLP-CFYs and SLPAs unfortunately cannot be considered)
- Proven experience with AAC/Speech Generating Devices; adept with a range of technology to support students who are nonverbal or minimally verbal
- Previous work with high school-aged individuals with severe disabilities is strongly preferred
- Strong collaborative skills and a flexible, student-centered approach
- Ability to adapt and innovate within a team-oriented school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a dynamic caseload of high school students, focusing on consultative models and assistive communication strategies
- Collaborate closely with a fellow SLP, educators, and school staff
- Provide expertise in AAC device implementation and training for students and staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in accordance with school and state guidelines
