School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist - Waxhaw, North Carolina

An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support high school students with moderate to severe medical needs. This engaging role centers on collaboration, compassion, and innovative communication strategies in a supportive school environment. The assignment runs from August 24th, 2026 through June 4th, 2027, with potential additional days for pre- and post-planning. Flexibility is possible in scheduling, as preference is for 15 hours per week (spread over 2 days), but candidates seeking 1-day assignments (7.5 hours) or up to 3 days will also be considered.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold a valid NC State Speech-Language Pathologist License and Educator Certification
- SLP-CCC required
- Previous experience in a school-based setting—preferably working with high school students
- Expertise in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices
- Deep understanding of working with medically fragile, minimally verbal, or nonverbal students
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, assisting and working closely with another compassionate SLP
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 25–35 high school students, primarily focusing on support plans rather than direct therapy
- Collaborate effectively with a fellow SLP and other school staff to design and implement communication strategies
- Provide specialized support for students using AAC devices or alternative communication methods
- Adapt to evolving student needs and maintain up-to-date documentation
