Special Education Teacher - 2026 to 2027 School Year

Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to support students in Pittsfield, MA. This role focuses on helping students develop academic, functional, and transition skills to prepare for post-secondary success, including college, career, and independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with high school curriculum and student goals
- Support students in academic subjects, life skills, and transition planning
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching models
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Conduct transition assessments and assist with post-secondary planning
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Implement behavior intervention plans and classroom management strategies
- Foster a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Active Kansas Special Education Teaching License (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with high school students preferred
- Knowledge of transition planning and post-secondary readiness
- Strong understanding of IEP development and compliance
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
