Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Independence, MO
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students' communication and language development in a vibrant elementary school environment. We are seeking an SLP or SLPA ready to make an immediate impact by covering a leave at a supportive elementary school, working with a dynamic and diverse caseload ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade, including older FIT (Functional Integrated Team) students and those in a cross-categorical classroom.
This is a full-time contract position running through December 4, with the potential for extension. Daily hours are 8:50 am to 4:25 pm, providing you with structured workdays and a manageable caseload.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Current, active Missouri SLP or SLPA license
- Experience working within school environments (elementary preferred)
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) for SLPs preferred
- Ability to manage a caseload serving various elementary grade levels, including students in resource classrooms
- Strong collaborative and communication skills
- Comfortable leading small group interventions and in-class language groups
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language therapy to students, including 1st, 2nd, 5th grade, FIT program, cross-categorical and resource students
- Conduct weekly in-class language groups (specifically every Tuesday in the FIT room)
- Consult on cases as needed (currently 2 consults, with a pending 3rd)
- Support school routines, including morning car rider duty and coordinating dismissal for 2nd grade and kindergarten field walkers
- Accurately document student progress and collaborate effectively with teachers and families
