Providing Speech-Language Pathology services for an elementary school setting, this contract position offers a valuable opportunity to support general education students with diverse communication needs. The role focuses on delivering direct speech-language therapy services to a caseload of approximately 45 students, ranging in age to fit the elementary school population. This position serves as FMLA coverage from late March through early June and offers a consistent schedule of 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based speech-language pathology assessments and interventions for students in general education classrooms.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and support student communication goals.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, including working with students who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Maintain clear, timely documentation and communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with school and state regulations related to speech-language pathology services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license and Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
  • Credentials reflecting experience or interest in pediatric speech-language pathology and school-based services.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload within an elementary educational environment.
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with AAC devices and varied disability profiles is beneficial.

Employment Details:

  • Contract duration coinciding with the late March to early June period.
  • Work schedule: 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Chicago, IL, within an elementary school.
