A contract position is available for a Speech-Language Pathologist licensed in Michigan, supporting students from ages 2½ to 26 within a center-based educational model. This role is focused primarily on classroom consulting with limited direct therapy, offering an opportunity to impact a wide range of students through collaborative support and specialized communication techniques, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Location: Carleton, MI
Contract Duration: Immediate start through June 17 (Maternity Leave coverage)
Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (to accommodate a weekly meeting)
- No virtual work at this time
Responsibilities include:
- Providing speech-language consultation primarily within classroom settings
- Assisting with assessment, intervention planning, and monitoring of students’ communication goals
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to integrate speech-language strategies into classrooms
- Utilizing AAC methods to support students with complex communication needs
- Documenting progress and maintaining clear communication with the educational team and families
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Experience working with a diverse age range, particularly in school or center-based environments
- Strong consulting skills and comfort with indirect therapy models
- Knowledge of AAC strategies and tools
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to supporting students’ communication development in educational settings
