Pediatric School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist - Anaheim, California
A specialized contract position is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to conduct an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) evaluation at a K-12 school in Anaheim, CA. This role is ideal for an experienced SLP with expertise in AAC assessment and Keyguard customization, focusing on a student with moderate to severe communication needs. The assignment is onsite and scheduled for the current school year (CSY).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a comprehensive, one-time AAC evaluation for a student with extensive needs currently using an AAC device.
- Assess the effectiveness and challenges of the existing AAC device, including issues with device durability.
- Provide a detailed recommendation regarding whether to maintain the current high-tech device or transition to a lower-tech solution.
- Prepare and present strong, evidence-based rationale if recommending a lower-tech device, supporting the student's communication and learning needs.
- Collaborate with school staff and caregivers to ensure understanding and implementation of recommended AAC strategies.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid SLP-CCC certification with experience in pediatric and school-based speech-language pathology.
- Proven expertise in AAC assessment, including Keyguard customization.
- Familiarity with teletherapy and healthcare settings is a plus.
- Ability to conduct evaluations and communicate effectively with educational teams.
- Experience working with students with moderate to severe speech and communication impairments.
