We're currently seeking experienced speech-language pathologists to provide virtual speech and language services to students with communication disorders.
Position Details
This remote SLP position typically involves a caseload of 50-60 students spanning grades K-12, with a 36-hour work week. You'll provide individual and group therapy sessions addressing articulation disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and pragmatic language deficits. Students on your caseload may also include those with communication needs related to autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairments, traumatic brain injury, and other developmental conditions affecting speech and language development.
Core Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations using standardized assessments and dynamic evaluation techniques to identify student needs and determine eligibility for services. Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals targeting specific communication deficits. Provide direct therapy through engaging virtual sessions utilizing digital resources, interactive activities, and evidence-based intervention strategies. Monitor student progress through systematic data collection and modify treatment approaches based on student response. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support communication skills in academic settings and provide strategies for classroom implementation. Consult with families on home practice activities and techniques to reinforce therapy goals. Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute expertise on communication needs and appropriate services. Maintain detailed documentation of evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress reports in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provide professional development to school staff on topics such as language development, communication strategies, and augmentative and alternative communication systems.
Required Qualifications
Must possess ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and hold active New Mexico speech-language pathology license. Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders required along with minimum 2 years of school-based experience. Telepractice experience is highly valued, as this role requires strong virtual therapy skills and comfort using technology platforms for assessment and intervention. Proficiency with video conferencing systems, digital therapy materials, and electronic documentation software essential. Knowledge of typical and atypical speech-language development across age ranges and evidence-based treatment approaches for various communication disorders. Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with students and families in a virtual environment and collaborating effectively with educational teams.
The Virtual Therapy Environment
Remote speech-language services eliminate geographic barriers and expand access to specialized therapy for students in rural and underserved areas of New Mexico. You'll work from your home office utilizing screen sharing, digital whiteboards, interactive games, and specialized telepractice platforms to create engaging therapy sessions. The virtual format requires creativity in adapting traditional therapy activities for online delivery while maintaining clinical effectiveness and student engagement.
