This opportunity is for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) located in Queensbury, NY, approximately 45 minutes north of Albany. The position supports a special private school serving students with severe cognitive disabilities and complex communication needs. Many students are non-verbal and use alternative communication methods (AAC), with some requiring pediatric dysphagia management.

This is a travel assignment that begins ASAP and continues year-round within a school setting. The role offers valuable experience working with a diverse pediatric population, including students with challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide speech-language pathology services tailored to students with severe cognitive and communication impairments.
  • Implement and support AAC strategies for non-verbal students.
  • Address pediatric feeding and swallowing concerns as part of therapy plans.
  • Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Deliver effective supervision and guidance for Clinical Fellows (CFs).

Qualifications:

  • NYS Teaching Certificate as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
  • Experience or interest in pediatric dysphagia and AAC.
  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates are welcome; supervision will be provided.
  • Skills in school-based, pediatric, healthcare, and CFY speech-language pathology settings advantageous.

Location: Queensbury, New York — a short travel assignment near Albany.
