Location: Schools Throughout Kentucky

Compensation: $47+ per hour depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and communication modalities, including sign language, oral communication, and assistive technology.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure students' academic, social, and emotional needs are met within the general education environment.
• Conduct assessments to monitor students' progress, identify areas of need, and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Provide consultation and training to school staff on best practices for supporting students with hearing loss in the classroom.
• Advocate for students' rights and access to educational opportunities, including appropriate accommodations and assistive technology.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and communication with parents and other stakeholders.
• Stay current on research, trends, and best practices in the field of deaf education and assistive technology.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
• Valid state teaching license or certification in Deaf Education or Special Education with a focus on hearing impairment.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an educational setting.
