- Setting: Self-contained classroom environment
- Class Size: Maximum of 7 students per program
- Support: Paraprofessional and social worker assistance provided
Responsibilities: As an ASD Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and implementing specialized educational programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Utilizing teaching strategies tailored to meet the academic, developmental, and functional needs of students.
- Collaborating with paraprofessionals, social workers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Conducting and interpreting academic assessments to guide individualized instruction.
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and the community.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Special Education with an endorsement
- ASD certification
- Proficiency in Common Core State Standards and strategies for student needs
- Competency in administering and interpreting academic tests
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Certification in CPI (or willingness to obtain and maintain yearly)
- Willingness to undergo training in applied behavior analysis
