Travel Contract: School-based Speech-Language Pathologist, Henderson NC
Calling on Clinical Fellows and ASHA-Certified Speech-Language Pathologists who want to work with children in smaller communities! Soliant has partnered with a school district about an hour from the Raleigh-Durham area and is interviewing applicants for a travel contract.
How does one qualify as a traveler?
- Will you be arranging temporary housing during the school year?
- Will you be commuting 75+ miles to work?
If so, you qualify for housing and/or meals and incidentals stipends!
For schools-based Speech-Language Pathologists, duties include:
- Evaluating initial referrals, or re-evaluating students as required by District, state, or federal guidelines
- Determining student eligibility for speech services
- Participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) development by setting goals and recommending appropriate levels of intervention
- Providing appropriate therapy services to support students in their academic programs by:
- providing speech and language services to students using evidence-based practices;
- considering language and cultural differences of students for intervention;
- considering the augmentative and assistive technology needs of students;
- integrating school curriculum with speech/language therapy, as appropriate;
- serving students in the least restrictive environment (LRE) to the maximum extent appropriate
- consulting with teachers and special education staff
- providing information and assistance to parents/guardians;
- assisting in the coordination of services for students transitioning from one (1)-level of education to another (i.e., preschool to elementary, elementary to middle school, middle school to high school, and secondary to post-secondary sites).
- Conducting meetings and completing reports as part of the referral or dismissal process for speech students
- Documenting services by means of service logs, progress notes, or by compiling test data

- Excellent communication skills
- Good organization, time management, and the ability to prioritize in a manner consistent with department guidelines
- Flexibility and the ability to foster a collegial work environment
Requirements:
- SLP license from the North Carolina Board of Speech-Language Pathology
