Speech Therapy | Shelby, North Carolina
An opening role is available for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with a focus on hospital-based therapy in a well-established healthcare setting located in Shelby, NC. This contract position offers a collaborative environment serving a geriatric and adult patient population with a variety of neurological diagnoses. The ideal candidate brings at least two years of experience, preferably with home health or skilled nursing facility (SNF) backgrounds, and holds all necessary licenses and certifications.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years post-CFY experience (no CFY candidates)
- Preferred experience in Home Health; SNF experience also acceptable
- Licensed SLP with current state license and CCCs (Certificate of Clinical Competence)
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance required
- Proficient in dysphagia management, aphasia treatment, and cognitive therapy
- BLS certification
Location:
This role is based in Shelby, NC, a vibrant community nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Known for its charming downtown, local parks, and access to natural scenic areas, Shelby offers a balance of small-town living with convenient amenities. The healthcare facility serves multiple counties within the region, including Gaston, Cleveland, and Rutherford, ensuring a diverse working environment.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Deliver skilled speech-language pathology services to adult and geriatric patients, focusing on neurological conditions such as TBI, dementia, apraxia, and limited voice disorders
- Conduct evaluations and implement individualized treatment plans addressing dysphagia, aphasia, and cognitive impairments
- Collaborate closely with home health staff, nursing personnel, and therapy teams to support patient care
- Utilize electronic medical records (preferably HCHB) for documentation and scheduling
- Participate in a 5-day orientation and comply with Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm shifts; 10-hour shifts by request
- Assist with caseload management and occasional holiday coverage as needed
