A Speech Language Pathologist role is available on a contract basis in Lowell, MA, offering the opportunity to deliver specialized care in a dynamic healthcare setting. This position focuses on providing comprehensive speech language pathology services to support residents in achieving maximum functional independence in their daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations and provide therapeutic treatment for communication disorders and dysphagia, including modified barium swallow studies.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans with measurable short- and long-term goals based on resident assessments.
  • Collaborate with physicians, healthcare teams, residents, and caregivers to optimize therapy outcomes and discharge planning.
  • Monitor and document progress, modifying care plans as needed to ensure effectiveness and adherence to protocols.
  • Educate residents and caregivers on therapy techniques and assistive devices.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to program development within the speech therapy department.
  • Uphold clinical competence through continuing education and professional engagement.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of clinical areas and equipment, aligning with infection control procedures.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Valid Speech & Language Pathologist license and Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management and documentation.
  • Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care.
  • Physical ability to perform duties involving sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
