Speech & Language Pathology - Mechanicsville, Virginia
Provide specialized speech-language pathology therapy within an inpatient rehabilitation setting focused on adult patients. This role involves evaluating and treating a variety of swallowing and speech-language disorders utilizing advanced diagnostic tools in a dynamic hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and provide individualized treatment for swallowing and speech-language impairments.
- Perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and interpret results to guide therapeutic interventions.
- Utilize equipment such as VitalStim, IOPI, EMST150, and Bioness BITs to support patient care.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including nursing and medical staff to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Participate in rotating weekend shifts approximately one per month.
- Be flexible to assist in acute hospital settings as needed.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Virginia state license and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Experience working with the adult patient population in a medical setting.
- Preferred: Background in neurogenic communication disorders and inpatient rehabilitation experience.
- Strong patient-focused mindset with excellent teamwork skills.
- Adaptability to varied clinical situations and schedules.
