Provide skilled Speech-Language Pathology services in a hospital setting focusing on inpatient and outpatient care for adults with general medical, stroke, neurological, orthopedic, and bedside needs, including occasional NICU cases. This travel position offers an opportunity to impact patient recovery through comprehensive assessment, individualized treatment planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough diagnostic evaluations assessing speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing functions.
- Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans with measurable goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with policies.
- Participate in patient and family care conferences and departmental meetings.
- Counsel patients, families, and caregivers regarding evaluation outcomes and treatment processes.
- Coordinate and supervise Speech-Language Pathology student and volunteer programs.
- Assist in department operations including orientation, scheduling, and clinical supervision.
- Engage in Performance Improvement and program development activities.
- Foster professional relationships with medical staff and other healthcare providers.
- Adapt therapy methods to meet age-specific and psychosocial needs of patients.
- Maintain awareness of community resources and provide educational opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year as per American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requirements.
- Current Texas State licensure and ASHA certification (CCC-SLP).
- BLS certification (AHA only).
- Proficiency with all assessment and treatment tools required by the State Board.
- Ability to successfully complete health screenings as mandated.
Work Schedule:
- Thursday through Monday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5 days/week, 8-hour shifts).
