Speech Language Pathologist - Remote Position
Lynchburg, IN
ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in Virginia for a fully remote, 1099 contractor position. As an SLP, you will work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
Responsibilities:
- Provide teletherapy services to students with speech disorders (difficulty producing speech sounds correctly or fluently or has problems with his or her voice or resonance).
- Work with students with language disorders (trouble understanding others or sharing thoughts, ideas, and expressive language) involving phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.
- Assist students with social communication disorders (trouble with the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication).
- Help students with cognitive-communication disorders (problems organizing thoughts, paying attention, remembering, planning, and/or problem-solving).
- Address swallowing disorders (dysphagia).
- Provide aural rehabilitation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Offer augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders.
- Work with individuals who want to learn how to communicate more effectively (e.g., work on accent modification or other forms of communication enhancement).
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education and other administrators.
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Active ASHA certification and Virginia state licensure.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a school setting.
- Previous teletherapy experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Section 504, and other federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Skill in selecting and providing a wide range of intervention strategies and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Effective computer skills as needed for work (e.g., ability to effectively use Microsoft Office suite).
- Ability to determine the need for a speech therapy evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the student.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
Education and Certification:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Active ASHA certification and Virginia state licensure.
