Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - LOA Coverage in New Albany, NY
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Until end of July (possible renewal for new school year)
Classrooms: 5 & 6-year-olds, 18-21-year-olds
Caseload: Mostly nonverbal, mobile disabilities (some students in wheelchairs)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to cover a Leave of Absence (LOA) in Albany, New York. This position is full-time, with a caseload focusing on students who are mostly nonverbal and have mobile disabilities. The role involves working with two distinct age groups—young children aged 5 & 6, and young adults aged 18-21. The position is set to run until the end of July, with the possibility of renewal for the new school year.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments to determine the specific needs of each student.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans focused on communication skills for nonverbal students.
- Provide therapy in both individual and small group settings, accommodating students with varying mobility needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive student support.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and home-based communication techniques.
- Maintain thorough records of therapy sessions and student progress.
Requirements:
- Valid New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology.
- At least two years of experience working as an SLP.
- Experience with nonverbal students and students with mobility disabilities is preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet the needs of different age groups and abilities.
