Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Job Type: Fulltime, Next School Year Contract
Pay: $45/Hour
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska. As a School SLP, you will play a vital role in providing speech and language therapy services to students in various educational settings. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students overcome communication challenges and will collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and other professionals to support student success.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' speech and language abilities, including articulation, fluency, voice, receptive and expressive language skills, and pragmatic language abilities.
- Individualized Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to students' specific needs and goals, incorporating evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
- Therapy Sessions: Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students, both individually and in small groups, addressing areas such as articulation, phonology, language comprehension, expressive language, social communication, and pragmatics.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and document students' progress towards their speech and language goals, adjusting therapy plans as needed to ensure continued growth and development.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to support students' academic and social-emotional success, providing consultation, recommendations, and strategies for integrating speech and language goals into the classroom environment.
- Parent Communication: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress, therapy strategies, and ways to support speech and language development at home.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices, research, and developments in the field of speech-language pathology through ongoing professional development activities, workshops, and conferences.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing the provision of speech and language services in educational settings, including maintaining accurate and confidential student records.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid Alaska state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and sensitivity to diverse student populations.
