Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Harrison, NY
Description: We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in Harrison, NY. As an SLP in our school, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders in students. You will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' communication skills and academic success.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' speech, language, and communication abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans to address students' speech and language goals, including articulation, fluency, voice, receptive language, and expressive language skills.
- Provide direct therapy services to students individually or in small groups, utilizing evidence-based intervention strategies and techniques.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff to integrate speech and language goals into the curriculum and classroom activities.
- Monitor students' progress and adjust intervention plans as needed to support their ongoing development.
- Provide consultation and training to teachers, parents, and caregivers on strategies for facilitating speech and language development in the classroom and at home.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings to develop educational plans and support students' academic and social-emotional needs.
Educational Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program required.
Certifications:
- Valid New York state license or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working as an SLP in a school setting preferred.
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and assistive technology devices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
