Speech Therapy Assistant in Fredericksburg, VA
A K-12 educational opportunity is available in Fredericksburg, VA, for a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support students within a full-time or part-time capacity. This contract position runs from January through the end of May and offers the chance to work in a dynamic school district located approximately 45 minutes south of Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in delivering speech and language therapy to K-12 students.
- Support individualized education plans (IEPs) under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
- Collaborate with educators and staff to promote students’ communication skills.
- Adapt to the unique deployment of SLPAs within the district as they establish the role.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the supervising SLP.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication Disorders.
- Registration with the state Speech Board under supervision is required; no separate SLPA license in Virginia.
- Experience working with school-aged children is preferred but new graduates with relevant education are welcome.
- Willingness to work full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday) or part-time with a minimum of 20 hours weekly.
- Ability to comply with daily school schedules and adapt to varying caseloads.
