Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a certified Speech–Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA will support therapy delivery, data collection, and program implementation for students across K–12. This role helps extend the reach of SLP services in person across multiple school sites.
Key Responsibilities
Based on ASHA’s SLPA template responsibilities include:

Deliver individual and group speech–language therapy per SLP plans

Prepare therapy materials and set up equipment
-
Collect and document therapy session data and student progress
-
Assist with speech/language screenings and informal assessments
-
Maintain accurate records in compliance with IEPs and district policies
-
Assist with clerical tasks: scheduling, reporting, equipment maintenance
-
Collaborate with SLPs, teachers, and staff to support carryover of skills
-
Communicate progress to supervising SLP and participate in IEP/staff meetings
-
Required Qualifications
-
Actively licensed as an SLPA by the California Speech–Language Pathology & Audiology Board
-
Completion of an SLPA program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree)
-
Experience working with K–12 students in educational settings preferred
-
Valid California driver’s license (for travel between schools)
-
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
-
Preferred Qualifications
-
Prior school-based SLPA or related experience
-
Bilingual (Spanish/English) ability
-
Familiarity with IEP processes, IDEA, and educational regulations
-
Ability to work independently while engaging in team collaboration
-
Schedule & Caseload
-
37.5 hours/week, Monday–Friday during the school year (approx. 190 days)
-
Caseload size based on district needs; travel between Phelan area campuses as required
