Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Schedule: Full Time
Assignment Window:
January 26, 2026 – ~June 5, 2026
(Some leaves begin in late January while others begin in early February. Each SLPA will be assigned to one maternity leave for the duration of the school year.)
A district in Oak Brook, IL is looking to hire several full-time SLPAs to cover individual maternity leave positions throughout the second half of the school year. Each SLPA will be responsible for supporting one designated leave, ensuring consistency for students and staff.
About the Assignments

Full-time positions, each tied to one maternity leave within the district

Placement within self-contained Structured Learning Environment (SLE) classrooms
-
SLE classrooms provide programming for students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities

Each room typically has 6–8 students, supported by a multidisciplinary team

Direct supervision provided by the district’s certified SLPs
What You’ll Do

Provide therapy services following the supervising SLP’s treatment plans

Support functional communication and language development

Assist with AAC device use and communication systems

Document daily services and maintain accurate student records

Work collaboratively with educators, support staff, and families

Help maintain continuity of services during each SLP’s leave period
Qualifications

Active Illinois SLPA license
-
Comfort working with students with Autism and complex communication needs

Previous school-based experience is helpful but not required

Reliable, communicative, and collaborative team mindset
