Position Overview

Sunbelt Staffing is hiring a full-time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support a district in the Oak Brook, IL area. This role is embedded within the school’s Structured Learning Environment (SLE) program, designed for students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. The SLPA will work across several self-contained classrooms, providing consistent, collaborative communication support.

This is an excellent opportunity for an SLPA who enjoys structured routines, teamwork, and meaningful daily interaction with students who benefit from specialized programming.


Assignment Details

  • Full-time schedule for the remainder of the school year

  • Work across 3–4 SLE classrooms, each serving 6–8 students

  • Students present with a range of communication profiles, including limited verbal skills and AAC needs

  • Strong support available from supervising SLP and the broader special education team


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver speech and language services under the supervision of a licensed SLP

  • Implement communication goals, visual supports, and structured interventions

  • Support students using AAC and alternative communication strategies

  • Work closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers

  • Aid in data collection, progress tracking, and preparation of therapy materials

  • Contribute to communication-rich environments within self-contained classrooms


Qualifications

  • Active Illinois SLPA License

  • Experience with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, or structured programs preferred

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team-centered setting

  • Comfortable supporting students with varied communication styles and needs
