School-Based Speech Therapist Assistant - Fairfax, Virginia
A full-time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) opportunity is available within a K-12 public school setting located in the Washington DC area, about 45 minutes south of Washington DC. This contract position runs from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026, with a standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Part-time candidates may also be considered if they can commit to a minimum of 20 hours weekly.
The role involves supporting speech-language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This position is unique as the district has not previously utilized SLPAs and is flexible on assignment locations within multiple schools. The SLPA will assist in managing caseloads typically served by the supervising SLP, focused on K-12 students.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication Disorders.
- Registration with the Speech Board by the supervising SLP (Virginia does not require SLPA licensure).
- Experience working in school settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to collaborate effectively under SLP supervision.
- Flexibility to work full-time or part-time within the assigned schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the supervising SLP in implementing speech therapy plans.
- Deliver direct support to students with speech and communication challenges.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
- Participate in team meetings to coordinate care and services.
