Speech & Language Pathology Assistant in Fairfax, VA

A full-time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) position is available in a K-12 public school setting in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of the city. This contract role runs from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026, with a standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Part-time candidates may be considered if able to commit to at least 20 hours weekly. The position supports speech-language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to cover for a pre-term SLP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the supervising SLP in delivering speech and language services to students across various grade levels within the district
- Support assessment, therapy, and progress documentation as directed by the SLP
- Adapt interventions to meet individual student needs while adhering to confidentiality and ethical guidelines
- Collaborate with school staff and families as appropriate to promote communication outcomes
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication Disorders
- Registration with the state Speech Board under the supervision of an SLP (Note: Virginia does not license SLPAs)
- Previous experience preferred but not required; training and supervision will be provided
- Ability to work in a school environment and manage variable caseloads
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards and confidentiality
