SLPA Requirements for Illinois Public Schools
To work as an SLPA in Chicago and other Illinois public schools, you must:

Hold an Illinois Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

Meet all Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) employment requirements

Provide proof of graduation from an accredited SLPA program

Be CPR certified

Pass a background check and TB test

Be legally authorized to work in the United States
