Speech Pathologist Assistant in Blacksburg, VA
A full-time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) position is available to support students across K-12 schools in Blacksburg, VA. This contract role spans the current school year, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year. The assignment involves working within an itinerant model, serving multiple locations throughout the district, with travel time compensated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist speech-language pathologists in delivering direct and indirect speech-language therapy services to K-12 students
- Conduct therapy sessions under the supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists
- Document student progress and participate in team meetings as required
- Utilize knowledge of communicative disorders to support individualized education program (IEP) goals
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and families to enhance student outcomes
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Virginia SLPA license or certification
- Experience working in K-12 school settings preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to travel between school sites with paid travel time included
