Are you a passionate Speech-Language Pathologist dedicated to empowering students through communication? Waukomis, OK is seeking an experienced SLP with a specialization in augmented speech technology to join our supportive team. We believe every student deserves a voice, and you'll play a crucial role in making that a reality.
The Opportunity
As a School SLP focusing on augmented speech technology, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify communication needs and determine appropriate Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems (including low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech devices and applications).
- Develop and implement individualized IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) with measurable goals that integrate AAC strategies to enhance functional communication, academic participation, and social interaction for students.
- Provide direct therapy services to students in individual and small group settings, utilizing a variety of evidence-based practices and AAC methodologies.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate AAC use across the school day and home environment.
- Provide training and resources to educators and families on the effective use and integration of AAC systems and communication strategies.
- Stay current with advancements in AAC technology, research, and best practices, integrating new knowledge into clinical and educational practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, IEPs, progress monitoring, and related service logs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
Who We're Looking For
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- OR, we welcome Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates with a strong interest in AAC. We can provide qualified clinical supervision.
- Current or eligible for SLP licensure through the Oklahoma Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (OBESPA) and teacher certification through the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including assessment, intervention, and implementation of various AAC technologies within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and the impact of communication disorders on academic and social-emotional growth.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
- Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and adapt interventions to meet diverse student needs.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in documentation.
On-Site Presence
This is an on-site position requiring your presence at the school in Waukomis, OK for a minimum of two days per week. More on-site days are welcome and can be discussed based on the needs of our students and your preference.
