Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Augmented Speech Technology Specialist
Location: Waukomis, OK
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team, specializing in augmented speech technology. Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the need for and appropriate types of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems (low-tech to high-tech, including speech-generating devices and tablet apps).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing AAC strategies and devices to enhance functional communication, social interaction, and access to education/daily living.
- Provide direct therapy, coaching, and training to individuals, families, caregivers, and other team members on the effective use and integration of AAC systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., OTs, PTs, educators, physicians) to ensure holistic and integrated support for clients.
- Stay current with advancements in AAC technology, research, and best practices, integrating new knowledge into clinical practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress, and relevant data.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and community outreach as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) OR currently enrolled in a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with a qualified mentor available (our organization can provide supervision for CFY candidates).
- State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an SLP in Georgia.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including assessment, intervention, and implementation of various AAC technologies. This is a key requirement.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to assess complex communication needs and select appropriate AAC solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and compassionately to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to empowering individuals with communication challenges.
Work Model:
This position requiring on-site presence at our facility at least 2 days per week. More on-site days are welcomed and can be discussed based on caseload needs and candidate preference. The remaining days allow for flexibility and work-life balance.
