This full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) opportunity is based in an elementary school setting in Waterbury, CT, serving students for the 2025 to 2026 school year starting in November. The position offers a contract through the school calendar year (CSY) with a 37.5-hour work week.

The ideal candidate will hold an SLP-CCC or be a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) Speech-Language Pathologist. Candidates should demonstrate intermediate to advanced expertise in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), including the ability to develop visuals and program communication devices. This role involves delivering speech and language services to students with limited language abilities, many of whom are enrolled in self-contained educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy to students with limited language skills using low and high tech AAC solutions.
  • Collaborate extensively with teachers, staff, and parents to support student communication needs.
  • Support and work closely with the district’s AAC/Assistive Technology (AT) coordinator, a skilled SLP with deep knowledge of AAC.
  • Manage an assigned caseload two days per week, dedicating the remaining three days to AAC/AT coordination and support activities.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • SLP certification and/or current Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Proficient understanding of a broad range of AAC tools and techniques.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, particularly in self-contained classrooms.
  • Strong collaboration skills with educators and family members.
  • Commitment to in-person work; tele-therapy and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) will not be considered for this opportunity.
