Virtual Speech Language Pathologist - Teletherapy in West Virginia Schools
Position Purpose
To provide specialized speech and language services to students in grades K–12. The Speech-Language Pathologist will deliver direct therapy, conduct evaluations, participate in IEP meetings, and support educators and families in addressing communication needs. Services are tailored to each student’s strengths and areas of need, in alignment with state and federal special education requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Provide scheduled speech and language therapy services to assigned students in accordance with IEPs.

Develop individualized plans of service that reflect student needs, strengths, and goals.

Prepare and utilize instructional materials and resources to support student learning.

Conduct speech and language screenings and share results with principals, teachers, and special education administrators.

Complete evaluations and observations for students referred to the Speech Therapy Program.

Participate in eligibility and placement meetings, contributing to decisions about student services.

Attend IEP meetings to develop and revise plans of service; update documentation throughout the year as needed.

Maintain accurate student records, including progress data and work samples.

Provide consultation and resource support to classroom teachers and school staff.

Submit required reports (e.g., service logs, progress monitoring, travel or time reports if applicable).

Perform additional related duties as assigned by the special education supervisor or building principal.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Active and valid West Virginia SLP license

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a school-based or pediatric setting

Familiarity with online therapy platforms and digital tools

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred; CFs considered.

Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and administrators.
