A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist position is available at a K-12 day center serving a Severe Cognitive Impairment (SCI) population in the Monroe County area of Michigan. This onsite role supports students who benefit from specialized interventions utilizing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) devices. The position runs through the current school year and offers the chance to work closely with a diverse student caseload.
Key Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence)
- Experience working in school settings with a K-12 student population
- Familiarity with AAC and AT devices to support student communication needs
- Michigan state licensure
- Ability to manage an active caseload up to the state maximum of 60 students (caseload details to be discussed during the interview)
- Must be available to work onsite full time for the duration of the contract
- Candidates with SLP-CF or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant credentials are not eligible for this role
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations and provide individualized therapy for students with severe cognitive impairments
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to develop and implement effective intervention plans
- Monitor student progress and document all services in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Utilize AAC and AT devices to maximize communication outcomes for students
- Participate in team meetings and maintain communication with all stakeholders
