About the Opportunity
We are actively seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year in the Belen, New Mexico area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the communication development and academic success of students within a supportive school environment. You will play a crucial role in empowering students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations for a diverse caseload of students across various grade levels (typically PreK-12, specific caseload details to be discussed).
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and evidence-based therapy plans tailored to student needs.
- Providing direct and indirect therapy services to students in individual, small group, and classroom-based settings.
- Collaborating effectively with teachers, parents, special education staff, and other multidisciplinary team members to integrate communication goals into the educational curriculum.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of evaluations, progress notes, IEPs, and all other required reports.
- Participating actively in IEP meetings, contributing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Adapting therapy activities and strategies to suit the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
- Staying current with best practices, research, and advancements in school-based speech-language pathology.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid and active Speech-Language Pathologist license from the New Mexico Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board (NMRLD) is REQUIRED.
- Valid and active Public Education Department (PED) licensure for Speech-Language Pathologists (PreK-12) in New Mexico is REQUIRED.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred, but strong Clinical Fellows (CFs) who are eligible for both NM licenses will be considered.
- Prior experience working as an SLP in a school-based setting is desirable.
- Strong understanding of the IEP process, special education law, and school-based service delivery models.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A genuine commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments and empowering students to reach their full communication potential.
