Itinerant Special Education Teacher
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction and support as a Special Education Teacher for a regional educational agency. This contract opportunity involves working within Carbon or Lehigh counties, with a focus on delivering compassionate, high-quality services to diverse learners. You will play a crucial role in managing absences and supporting various classrooms, fostering student success throughout the academic year.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must hold an active Pennsylvania teaching license
- Current PA PDE certification (Special Education) required
- Prior experience in special education settings
- Demonstrated involvement in IEP development and implementation
- In-person availability only (no remote options)
- Reliable transportation to sites within assigned county
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant Special Education Teacher, filling in for educator absences across districts in Carbon or Lehigh counties as needed
- Provide individualized instruction and support according to IEPs and student needs
- Step into classroom environments where regular staff are absent, ensuring continuity of care and learning
- Build rapport with students, staff, and families to maximize educational outcomes
- Respond with flexibility—cover short-term daily assignments or longer-term leaves and vacations
- If not covering an absence, assist in one of the agency's classrooms, contributing to varied educational settings
- Maintain thorough records and collaborate with colleagues to uphold compliance and best practices
