Virtual Speech Language Pathologist - Santa Fe, NM
VocoVision specializes in connecting certified speech language pathologists with teletherapy opportunities in schools across the United States. We maintain ongoing relationships with districts seeking qualified SLPs who can effectively deliver virtual speech and language services to students with communication disorders.
We're expanding our network of speech language pathologists available for remote positions serving New Mexico students. This work-from-home opportunity allows you to utilize your clinical expertise in a flexible environment while providing essential communication services to students who depend on speech therapy for academic and social success.
Position Details
Remote speech language pathologists typically work approximately 36-37.5 hours per week, balancing direct therapy time, evaluation activities, documentation, and collaborative meetings. Your student caseload will generally range from 45-60 students across elementary through middle school grades, with service delivery including both individual and group therapy sessions.
The virtual model enables you to serve students with diverse communication needs across multiple school sites. Your caseload may include students with articulation disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, language processing disorders, stuttering, voice disorders, and communication challenges associated with autism or other developmental disabilities. Each student requires individualized therapeutic approaches based on their unique profile and IEP goals.
Key Responsibilities
Effective therapy implementation forms the foundation of this role. You'll translate IEP goals into engaging treatment activities, deliver targeted intervention through video conferencing platforms, and continuously assess whether therapeutic approaches are producing desired communication improvements. Creativity and flexibility help maintain student engagement and motivation through the screen.
Evaluation duties extend throughout the school year. You'll conduct initial evaluations for students referred for suspected communication disorders, complete three-year re-evaluations for students already receiving services, administer standardized assessments via teletherapy platform, and compile comprehensive reports with diagnostic conclusions and recommendations. Evaluation timelines must be met consistently.
Documentation requirements are substantial in school-based practice. You'll maintain daily therapy logs, record session attendance, document progress using quantifiable data, write quarterly progress reports, and update IEP goals as needed. Your documentation must demonstrate medical necessity and support continued service provision.
Communication skills are paramount in virtual settings. You'll lead portions of IEP meetings presenting speech-language information, consult with teachers about supporting communication in classroom settings, train parents to facilitate practice at home, and collaborate with occupational therapists, special education teachers, and other team members. Building trust and maintaining professional relationships requires proactive outreach in the remote environment.
Qualifications Needed
Candidates must hold current speech language pathologist licensure valid in New Mexico along with ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders is required. Documentation of at least two years' experience providing speech therapy in K-12 school settings is necessary.
Experience with teletherapy platforms enhances your readiness for this position. You should demonstrate comfort with technology, problem-solving ability when technical issues arise during sessions, and capability to maintain student engagement through digital means. Your home setup must include reliable internet service, quality audio/video equipment, and a private environment for confidential therapy sessions.
