Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team and provide comprehensive speech and language services to elementary, middle, and high school-aged students in the Redford, MI area. The ideal candidate will be committed to student growth, collaborate effectively with educators and parents, and contribute to a positive school community.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for elementary students to determine eligibility for services.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with communication disorders, aligning with state and federal regulations.
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students, individually and in small groups, addressing a variety of communication needs (e.g., articulation, phonology, language, fluency, voice, social communication).
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school personnel to support student success in the classroom and at home.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student services, progress, and communication.
- Educate school staff and parents on communication development and strategies to support students.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) by ASHA.
- Valid Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology license (or eligibility for licensure in Michigan). This is a mandatory state-level requirement.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred, but Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply! (Supervision will be provided as required for Michigan licensure and ASHA CCC-SLP).
- Experience working with school-aged children across the K-12 spectrum (or specific experience with elementary, middle, and high school populations) is highly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and Michigan state special education laws and regulations (IDEA, MARSE).
- Demonstrated ability to select, administer, and interpret a wide range of formal and informal speech and language assessments for all age groups.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing measurable IEP goals and objectives, and effectively monitoring and reporting progress.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to effectively interact with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a varied caseload, schedules, documentation, and data collection efficiently.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- A strong commitment to student-centered practice, equity, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
