About the Position:
The Petal School District is seeking a qualified and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team of dedicated educators and support staff. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, student-centered environment with a strong emphasis on collaboration, early intervention, and educational success.
As a school-based SLP, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in students from preschool through high school. You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide therapy services that meet students' needs in both individual and group settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations using standardized assessments and informal measures

Develop and implement therapy plans that align with each student’s IEP

Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students in individual and group settings

Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support students’ communication needs across school environments

Participate in eligibility, IEP, and multidisciplinary team meetings

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state and district guidelines

Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

Provide support and training to school staff on communication strategies and interventions

Stay current with best practices and continuing education in the field of speech-language pathology
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
-
Valid Mississippi Speech-Language Pathology license (or eligibility to obtain)
-
Mississippi Department of Education educator license with a Speech-Language Pathology endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
-
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or CFY candidates will be considered

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred:
-
Prior experience in a school-based or pediatric setting

Familiarity with IEP development and special education compliance
-
Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
