Role Description
This remote speech language pathology position involves working 37.5 hours weekly with a caseload of approximately 50-60 students spanning pre-K through eighth grade. You'll address a wide spectrum of communication disorders including phonological processes, apraxia, language processing difficulties, augmentative and alternative communication needs, and social communication deficits. Through synchronous video sessions, you'll deliver engaging therapy using interactive digital materials, games, and activities specifically designed for teletherapy effectiveness. The virtual environment often enhances student focus and participation while providing families greater flexibility in scheduling.
Clinical Duties
Your clinical responsibilities encompass conducting thorough speech and language evaluations using standardized assessment tools adapted for online administration. You'll analyze assessment results, write comprehensive evaluation reports, and present findings during eligibility determination meetings. Treatment planning involves creating goal-oriented therapy plans based on IEP objectives and evidence-based practices in communication intervention. Each therapy session requires preparation of digital materials and activities that target specific speech or language goals while maintaining student engagement. You'll systematically collect data on student performance, analyze progress toward goals, and modify intervention approaches when needed. Regular collaboration with classroom teachers helps ensure therapeutic strategies are reinforced throughout the school day. Parent communication regarding home practice activities and student progress is an ongoing responsibility. You'll also contribute to RTI/MTSS teams, providing consultation on communication-related academic concerns.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
- Current Kentucky speech language pathology license without restrictions
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Two years minimum experience providing SLP services in educational settings
- Demonstrated proficiency with teletherapy service delivery and virtual assessment
- High-speed internet service and professional home office environment
- Working knowledge of online therapy platforms and digital therapy resources
Teletherapy Practice Environment
Virtual speech therapy has proven highly effective for most communication disorders, with research supporting comparable outcomes to traditional in-person services. You'll utilize screen sharing to present visual supports, interactive whiteboards for articulation drills, and engaging online games that target language skills. The ability to record sessions (with proper consent) allows for detailed analysis of speech patterns and provides resources for home practice. Many therapists discover that shy or anxious students open up more readily in the comfort of their home environment.
