Remote Speech Language Pathologist | Farmington Hills, MI
Transform student communication abilities through comprehensive speech and language therapy in our advanced virtual education platform. We're seeking a dedicated speech language pathologist who combines strong clinical skills with innovative teletherapy techniques to help students achieve their communication potential and succeed academically.
Position Overview
Provide speech therapy for a caseload of 48-56 students weekly across diverse grade levels, working 37 hours in our virtual education environment. Your clinical expertise will serve students with articulation disorders, language impairments, fluency disorders, voice concerns, and augmentative communication needs through effective online therapeutic interventions.
Clinical Assessment and Evaluation
- Complete comprehensive initial evaluations and three-year re-evaluations
- Administer standardized tests including GFTA-3, CELF-5, PPVT-5, and others
- Conduct oral-motor examinations and diadochokinetic rate assessments
- Perform language sample analysis identifying specific error patterns and targets
- Assess stimulability for target sounds and language structures
- Determine severity levels and impact on educational performance
- Generate detailed evaluation reports with diagnostic conclusions and recommendations
Evidence-Based Therapy Implementation
- Design treatment plans incorporating current research and best practices
- Implement traditional articulation therapy using placement and shaping techniques
- Provide whole language intervention addressing multiple linguistic domains
- Deliver fluency therapy using desensitization and modification strategies
- Support AAC users through device programming and communication training
- Address childhood apraxia using DTTC, PROMPT, or other motor-based approaches
- Monitor therapy effectiveness through systematic data collection and analysis
IEP Development and Management
- Write measurable, functional goals with clear benchmarks and success criteria
- Determine appropriate service delivery models and frequency recommendations
- Participate in annual IEP reviews discussing progress and future objectives
- Conduct eligibility meetings presenting evaluation data and recommendations
- Collaborate on manifestation determinations when behavior involves communication
- Document service provision and maintain compliance with state regulations
- Advocate for appropriate supports, accommodations, and services
Professional Collaboration
- Consult with general and special education teachers on student communication needs
- Partner with related service providers for integrated therapy approaches
- Communicate regularly with parents about progress, strategies, and home activities
- Participate in child study teams and intervention assistance processes
- Provide in-service training on communication disorders and classroom supports
- Coordinate with private therapists and medical professionals for continuity
- Engage in professional learning communities with colleagues and specialists
Essential Qualifications
- Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Active Michigan Speech-Language Pathology license
- 2+ years of school-based speech therapy experience
- Strong clinical foundation across communication disorder types and ages
- Proficiency with teletherapy platforms and virtual service models
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders
